How Mortar links Shopify products to your POS

Mortar automatically tries to find a unique link to products in your POS.

Overview

Mortar searches for Shopify SKUs and Barcodes in your POS to create a unique link between platforms. This is critical for products and inventory to update and orders to download accurately.

Note: Unlinked products will not be updated.

The "No Product Found" product will be substituted for any unlinked product on an order.

Mortar automatically tries to find a unique link to products in your POS any time a product is updated, sold, returned, or received. Important to note:

  • Links are created between platforms only when the match is unique (1:1).

  • Products will NOT be linked if multiple matches or no match is found.

When you first set up your account, Mortar will try to link all your active products. How long the initial linking process takes depends on how many products you have in each system.

But don't worry. Once activated, Mortar will always try to link with a matching product in Shopify whenever an unlinked product is updated. This includes products configured differently in each system; a single product in POS can link to a Shopify variant, for example.

Initial Product Linking Process

  1. Products are downloaded from Shopify and your POS; this happens automatically when your POS is connected.

  2. Products are matched automatically to establish links (see more info below)

  3. Review the linking results. If you have many Priority, unlinked products, update as many products as possible, then press the Reimport button to redownload your list. Repeat, if necessary.

  4. If all looks good, save your links by pressing Save.
