Upgrading to Action tags
Upgrading to Action tags

Upgrade to Action tags for seamless Shopify product management. Add, delete, archive, and more, all from your POS.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

It is time to upgrade to Action tags' advanced capabilities. These new tags offer more control and flexibility, allowing you to manage your Shopify products more efficiently directly from your POS.

Note: All Mortar users are required to upgrade to Action tags. There is no cost to upgrade.

What’s changed

Removing tags in the POS no longer impacts Shopify. Action tags perform explicit actions to products in Shopify

Create new Shopify products

Now

Before

Apply the "add" tag.

Apply any one of the web-ready tags. "accumula", "webstore", or "shopify"

Removing the tag could "delete" a product from Shopify.

Delete Shopify products

Now

Before

Apply the "delete" tag.

Archive a product or remove the web-ready tag from the product in your POS with your Archived Product Action set to "Delete".

Manually deleting a product from Shopify would risk the product being recreated if the tags were not also removed or the product was ever updated.

Existing products

Now

Before

Mortar automatically links
Shopify products with the same unique SKU or Barcode in your POS. No tag is required.

Linking a product first requires a web-ready tag to be applied. Only then can Shopify products link with the same unique SKU or Barcode in your POS.

Note: No existing tags need to be updated. This change impacts tags moving forward.

Action Tags

Action tags provide enhanced product management

Archive

Active

Updates product status to "active" on Shopify

Note: Applying both "add" and "delete" tags simultaneously to the same product prevents it from being added to Shopify. To remove a product, apply the "delete" tag.
