Overview
Mortar supports a variety of discounts for orders, including discounts by percentage, fixed amount, BOGO, and more. In order to ensure accurate margin and profit reporting, these discounts are aggregated and applied at the line item level in the POS.
Stacked discounts are combined
Shopify allows for discounts to be stacked, meaning multiple discounts can be applied to a single order or line item. In the POS, these stacked discounts are always aggregated and applied at the line item level. This ensures that your margin and profit reporting are accurate, as each discount will be applied to the specific item it is intended for.
Example
If you have a BOGO discount and a 20% off discount applied to an order, the BOGO discount will be applied to the specific items it applies to, while the 20% off discount will be applied to the remaining items in the order. This allows for more precise and accurate reporting.
Shipping discounts
Shipping discounts on Shopify orders sync with POS transactions Mortar creates for you. The table below shows where shipping discounts are visible in your POS.

Using personalized discount codes
Mortar syncs active discount codes from Shopify to your POS and can apply discount codes directly to line items. Discount codes will appear in your POS reporting.
Requirement
Personalized discount codes created by Klaviyo or other platforms should use a prefix before the personalized code. This allows you to create tens or hundreds of thousands on discount codes in Shopify without burdening the POS with so many.
Example

At the end of your Shopify discount offering or when a code is disabled on Shopify, Mortar will archive the related discount code in your POS.

Archiving/Deleting Discounts

Delete | If the discount was NEVER applied to any transaction |
If you delete a discount, it is best to make sure the discount has been deleted both in your POS and Shopify to avoid a sale being unable to sync to POS.
